A professional cleaner has revealed what to avoid when building a home to make hard-to-reach areas easier to clean.

Kacie from The Big Clean Co in Melbourne posted a TikTok video that has been viewed more than 600,000 times in less than 14 hours.

She recommends choosing alternative products rather than opting for blinds with small slats, freestanding bathtubs, square sinks and black tapware.

Kacie said to avoid installing blinds with small slats (left) because as dust accumulates it takes longer to individually clean each one and freestanding bathtubs can make it difficult to clean the gaps between the wall (right)

First, Kacie said to avoid installing blinds with small slats because as dust accumulates it takes longer to individually clean each one.

While freestanding bathtubs look chic, it's important to avoid placing it right beside the wall because it becomes difficult to clean the tight gap.

'You need to be able to clean in there,' she said.

Kacie added how the corners of square sinks are 'so annoying to clean', and so round or oval sinks are ideal.

When choosing kitchen cabinetry, minimise the space between the cupboards and ceiling as Kacie said 'it's just a shelf to catch grease on'.

Lastly she seemed opposed to installing window tracks that only collect dust, dirt and debris and are hard to clean.

Other TikTok users praised the suggestions in the comments, but some had a few queries.

'Can't avoid window tracks,' one person wrote, but Kacie said: 'We only see window tracks in particular types of units here, they're actually not very common fortunately.'

'Fellow cleaner here! COMPLETELY AGREE,' another person wrote.

A third added: 'And I don't understand WHY wouldn't you build the cabinets aaaaallll the way up? extra storage! Fancy vase you only use once a year? Top shelf.'
