Live happily ever after at the Olalla Forest Retreat, a magical property that blends storybook aesthetics with modern comfort, providing guests with an opportunity to relax and reconnect with their inner child!

Located in Olalla, Washington, right across the Puget Sound from Seattle, the Olalla Forest Retreat is a 5-acre property blessed with a natural running creek and a pond, and there’s even a moat that will make guests feel like they’re vacationing in Middle Earth. Lodging options include the main house as well as a separate guest suite, which were built in the late 70s to early 80s, according to owner Liz Greco.

The first stop on the tour is the main home, a cozy cottage that looks straight out of a fairy tale. “When you enter this home, you’ll immediately be able to recognize that it was built as an original storybook home,” Liz tells In The Know. Original cedar beams line the ceilings, and huge stained glass windows scattered throughout the house provide natural light and epic views. “Everything about this house is just completely magical,” says Liz. “We love it here.”

Through a rock arch doorway is a full-sized, fully furnished kitchen. “Everything about this is so fun to be in because it’s super artistic and it was really creatively built,” says Liz. Next to the kitchen, up a winding, wooden staircase, is a cozy bedroom equipped with a queen-sized bed and a large window.

The bathroom, which is “hands down” Liz’s favorite room in the house, is located across the hall from the bedroom. In addition to a clawfoot tub, the bathroom has a unique window that provides plenty of brightness while also maintaining privacy.

The tour continues outside, where Liz shows off the large outdoor kitchen, which is accessible to those staying in either the main home or the guest suite. “This is a fantastic place to prepare a meal, hang out and enjoy the outdoors, or just interact with other guests if you choose to,” shares Liz. Next to the outdoor kitchen is a 6-8 person hot tub, which is especially ideal for chilly Washington evenings.

Steps away from the outdoor patio is the additional guest suite, which offers a private, separate entrance from the main house. The one-room studio suite has all the whimsical coziness of the main home, including a high ceiling that makes the room feel extra spacious. “It’s got a very cave-like feel but it’s really bright and airy,” says Liz. The handmade fireplace serves as the centerpiece of the suite, and a queen-sized bed and full bathroom offer ample comfort and luxury.

“Olalla Forest Retreat is definitely a place where everyone that comes to it just feels magic,” Liz tells In The Know. “People can really kind of just unplug a little bit, and reconnect with whatever they need to reconnect with, whether it be nature or just chilling out for a little while.”
