Dezeen Showroom: Italian bathroom brand Agape has released a collection of sinks and baths called Face à face in collaboration with French architect Jean Nouvel.
The name of the collection comes from the dual meaning of the word 'face' in French, which translates to 'surface' as well as 'human face' and intends to highlight both the materiality of the products and their functional connection to bathing.
Both items have angular elements combined with upright slabs, including a slanted backrest in the bathtub and an inclined slab of marble for the sink basin, which are constructed to make the separate sides appear to stand beside each other rather than being connected.
The products are made from flat sheets of marble, allowing the collection to celebrate the detail and veining of the stone, and are available in both black and white colourways.
Basins are available in countertop, wall-mounted and freestanding versions with optional towel bars or storage components.
