Inside the lush hideaway atop Rome's Monte Mario.

When visiting the Eternal City, there is always a question of where best to stay. One option, nestled away from the hustle and bustle, sits the Rome Cavalieri at the top of Monte Mario. Not only does the property boast an expansive lush property complete with a pool that provides a cool oasis on the hottest of summer days, but also a spa, a gym, and a 3-Michelin star restaurant, as well. And who could forget the world-class art collection? Which begs the question: when staying at Rome Cavalieri, why would anyone choose to leave the premises? We caught up with the Managing Director, Alessandro Cabello to chat about what makes the Rome Cavalieri so irresistible, here below:

One of our absolute favorites and most in-demand rooms is the Penthouse Suite, which sits atop the hotel. In addition to its aristocratic size and abundance of spacious living areas, a major highlight of the suite is the prized artwork and furnishing within, where our guests can sleep beside limited edition works like Andy Warhol’s ‘Dollar Signs,’ enjoy a hydro-massage bath next to a beautiful portrait of Marilyn Monroe, and relax in comfort on Karl Lagerfeld's sofas.

The real showstopper is the suite’s private roof garden, providing a 2,300-square-foot sanctuary that overlooks the most breathtaking panoramic views of the Eternal City and St. Peter’s Basilica from above, which can be admired in the rooftop’s private Jacuzzi tub. It is one of the most coveted settings in the entire hotel.

The Penthouse Suite starts at €9,000 per night, which is approximately $9,200 USD.

Our guests have discerning appetites for travel and culture, and they trust our team at Rome Cavalieri to provide a truly singular stay, whether it be their first time in Rome or their latest adventure to the destination. Our guests choose Rome Cavalieri for its unparalleled dining, leading spa and wellness programming, proximity to—yet welcomed retreat from—the bustle of the historic city center, and for its sophisticated atmosphere. We embrace the hotel’s role in serving as a home-away-from-home for all travelers, including families with our abundant kid-friendly programming, four-legged companions with our V.I.P (Very Important Pet) amenities, couples for our romantic experiences, and groups for our expansive meeting, event, and wedding facilities.

Our guests visiting for the first time are generally stunned by our museum-worthy art collection from the moment they step into our grand lobby. One of the first sights they are greeted with when they walk through our front entrance is a richly decorated baroque commode dating back to the eighteenth century, which once belonged to the King of Poland. It is a testament to the exceptional caliber and quality of the more than 1,000 pieces of Italian masters’ paintings, French period furniture, rare tapestries, exquisite sculptures, and other artifacts that are on display across the hotel. Rome Cavalieri is a living art gallery and guests are often quite surprised to stumble upon a fascinating piece of art around every corner.

Our commitment to fostering a deep connection to local Roman and Italian culture provides Rome Cavalieri with a truly unique identity. We go above and beyond in providing the keys to culture to our guests through multiple touch points, such as our aforementioned art collection, as well as our on-site culinary experiences, which includes Rome’s first and only 3-Michelin-Star restaurant, La Pergola. We also cultivate a rich collection of exclusive excursions in and around Rome for our guests through the lenses of sustainability, gastronomy, art and culture, adventure, wellness, and fashion, allowing them to enjoy quintessential experiences that best suit their passions. Through Rome Cavalieri, our guests can experience everything from private palace tours and privileged access to the often-off-limits Vatican Gardens, to truffle hunting excursions, sustainable fashion workshops in partnership with Ilaria Venturini Fendi’s Rome-based Carmina Campus, flavorful Tiramisu making workshops, and so much more.

In addition to Rome’s iconic and historic attractions that are on most of our guests’ bucket lists, we love to recommend a vintage Vespa tour, which winds guests through the picturesque streets of Trastevere. It is a fantastic way for visitors to establish their bearings of both the historic and modern sites of Rome, and certainly an adventurous experience they won’t soon forget. It is not for the faint of heart, however, and we alternatively can arrange a highly unique and sustainable Eco-Spiaggina Experience, which has guests exploring the sights of the Eternal City aboard a converted-to-electric vintage FIAT 500 ‘Spiaggina’ car instead.

Our unique vantage point atop Monte Mario is our most distinguishing feature as compared to our peers. This allows us to provide our guests with truly unmatched, panoramic views of the Eternal City from above, which makes for incredible sightseeing and picture-taking moments from the comfort and privacy of their guest rooms and suites, as well as from our public settings. Our location also provides a lush, private Mediterranean parkland that allows guests to be within proximity to the city’s historic sites while also having a relaxing sanctuary to retreat back to after a productive day of sightseeing, where they can partake in a restorative treatment at our world-class Cavalieri Grand Spa Club, enjoy our refreshing indoor and outdoor pools, and more.
