Elmo “Bones” O’Connor has picked up a slick Spanish Colonial Revival estate on the suburban outskirts of Los Angeles. Records show the 28-year-old rapper, singer and songwriter — best known as founder of the music collective TeamSESH — acquired the revamped 1930s residence in the San Gabriel Valley’s quaint city of Sierra Madre in a bidding war for exactly $4 million, paying around $400,000 over the asking price.

Nestled on a gated corner parcel, and offering picturesque mountain and city lights views, the two-story stucco and terracotta-roof structure has five bedrooms and four baths. A little more than 4,000 square feet of modernized living space is adorned throughout with period details, including hardwood floors, wood-beam ceilings and arched doorways.

A walkway meanders past a sprawling grassy lawn and an ornate fountain on the way to a wood front door, which leads into a double-height foyer displaying decorative magnesite flooring and a curving wrought-iron staircase. An office space sits to the left, while a living room on the right boasts a fireplace, built-in entertainment unit, 10-foot crested stained-glass window and French doors spilling out to a covered patio.

An adjacent formal dining room has pocketing glass doors that flow out to the backyard, and also connects to a gourmet kitchen outfitted with a wet bar tucked away into a nook, along with an eat-in island, quartz countertops, pricey La Cornue range and SubZero refrigerator. As a neat surprise, a secret doorway disguised as shelving opens to reveal a set of steps descending to a cavernous wine cellar and tasting room.

An inviting master retreat awaits upstairs, complete with a private balcony, large closet, and spa-like bath sporting a steam shower and soaking tub. Outdoors, the amenity-filled backyard hosts a freeform pool and separate spa, built-in barbecue and bar, and plenty of spots ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining. There’s even a detached guesthouse/gym with its own kitchen, and an area dedicated solely to the game of horseshoes.

The listing was held by Ash Rizk and Patrice Jacobs of Coldwell Banker Realty; Jeff Fisher of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties repped the buyer.
